When DJ was a kid, he raced cars-and he was really good! I'm not just saying that because I'm bias, you should see all of the trophies he has! He was just a "natural" at it! He raced against alot of today's great racers, they were just kids then, but now some of them are in Nascar!
Now, one of his friend's son races, and-he just happens to race at one of DJ's old tracks! Soooo, a few weeks ago we met them out there to see the kid kick-up some dust and screech some tires! (yeah-that's me talking, not him!) It was one of the greatest moments I've had with DJ! His face lit up as soon as we got there!
"Check-it out babe, it's my old track!"
"Oh my gosh-I totally remember that sign!"
"The track totally had a turn here, and that was a straight-away!"
It was so nice to be brought into his world, and I was so glad I was able to share in his childhood! And then-it was time for the "Dad's race!" No-he's not a Dad, buuut with a lil coaxing, we all talked him into jumpin' back into the ol' ride! I really wanted to see him in his element! It was such a blast! I was so proud-I told him, we need to get him back into this racin thing!
I was just happy to get to spend the day with him and so thrilled-from the bottom of my heart that I could get to know him just that much more!!...It was just one of the days you wanna keep forever!
